TREATMENT OVERVIEW
Moles on the face and body are extremely commonplace. The majority of moles are benign (i.e. medically harmless and non-cancerous) and cause no serious problems. However, some may become a problem when they are itchy, large or are raised, or when they change shape, size, colour, rub or catch on your clothing.
Moles can also make every day grooming tasks, like shaving or applying make-up, more difficult.
So, you may decide to have your moles removed for aesthetic or practical reasons. Mole removal and skin tag removal are very simple procedures. Of course, you may have some health concerns about your mole and it may be removed for more medical reasons.
The area around the unwanted mole is thoroughly cleansed, any makeup removed, and then made clinically sterile before a local anaesthetic injection is administered around the mole.
When the area is completely numb, the mole will be gently removed using the appropriate surgical or electro-cautery instrument. A sterile dressing may be applied and then you will be able to go home as soon as you feel ready.
Obviously, every attempt will be made to minimise any scarring that occurs from mole removal. Wimpole Aesthetics are specialists in skin and mole analysis and in the removal of moles and skin tags.
How long does skin tag or mole removal take?
The time needed for mole (or moles) removal or skin tag removal is dependent upon their size and position on the body. The mole removal treatment can usually be done within an hour. If there are any concerns about the character of the mole or lesion then it will be sent to the laboratory for histological examination, which will generate a separate lab fee.
Does mole or skin tag removal hurt?
There is seldom any pain at all either during the procedure or afterwards. The skin usually heals very quickly. You may notice some initial redness or swelling. You will usually have a very small and neat scar that will gradually fade.
You will be given any post-procedure medication if needed. A follow-up visit will be arranged.
How much does skin and mole removal and analysis cost?
Cost is dependent upon the nature and complexity of the procedure, as well as the time and the materials needed to perform the procedure. If you are interested in skin tag or mole removal, we look forward to being of assistance to you so please do not hesitate to contact us or book a consultation.
