TREATMENT OVERVIEW
Sculptra is an anti-ageing injectable treatment that can smooth the skin, restore more youthful contours to the face, improve skin tone or be used to enhance your features. It is particularly effective at treating very deep wrinkles and folds and results are long-lasting, giving it the popular name, the Liquid Facelift.
Sculptra has been used as an anti-ageing treatment for more than 20 years across the world. It can fill and correct ageing concerns and facial irregularities by using a biodegradable material known as poly-l-lactic acid that corrects the deepest of creases and wrinkles. Studies have shown that Sculptra can even correct lip atrophy, a condition that causes facial fat loss.
Sculptra does not require skin testing prior to use and it may be safely combined with other non-invasive aesthetic treatments such as Wrinkle Injections and dermal fillers, to give you an immediate improvement while the long-term effects of Sculptra are being produced.
During your consultation, we will discuss your ageing concerns and whether Sculptra will address these issues. During your Sculptra procedure, we use topical local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area to minimise any mild discomfort you may feel although Sculptra is injected using a fine needle.
Sculptra works by stimulating collagen production in the skin and fills in volume that has been lost with age. Results are gradual and, depending on the level of improvement desired and the severity of the problem, anywhere between three to five monthly treatments may be needed. Once the desired look is achieved, Sculptra produces long-lasting treatments, with results typically lasting longer than two years.
After three treatments, your face will look fuller and fine lines and wrinkles will appear softened. However, these are not the true effects and this volume will subside slightly as the water found in Sculptra™ is absorbed into the body.
You can expect to see clear improvements six weeks after initial treatment and this will continue to improve with each treatment. As your body begins to produce increased facial collagen, the connective tissue where ageing has had its effects will begin to naturally rebuild, smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines.
Am I a suitable candidate for Sculptra?
Sculptra is intended for restoration or correction of the signs of facial fat, whether that’s due to ageing, illness or as a result of extreme weight loss. It can also be used to enhance facial features in younger patients.
Is Sculptra safe?
Poly-l-lactic acid is a synthetic material that is biocompatible, which means it does not harm the body and no skin testing is required before use. It is also bioabsorbable which means it is easily broken down by the body. It has been used safely in medicine for over 25 years in dissolvable stitches and soft tissue implants.
Is Sculptra painful?
There may be some slight discomfort, but we apply a topical anaesthetic cream prior to your treatment to minimise any discomfort.
Will I see immediate results after my Sculptra treatment?
Immediately after your first session, there will be swelling from the injections and the water component in Sculptra and that will add volume to your face. After a few days, the swelling will subside as the water is absorbed by your body and your face may appear as it did prior to treatment. However, over the next couple of weeks Sculptra will stimulate collagen production, restoring lost volume.
At that point, you can decide if you require another Sculptra treatment to produce the desired effect. Patients love the gradual and natural rejuvenating effects of Sculptra.
How much does Sculptra cost?
A single treatment will cost £450. Most patients will require at least two treatments to see the maximum benefits.
Typically, you will start to see the results after a week or two post treatment. After you’ve completed the treatment programme, there will be a noticeable improvement in skin quality and health. Results can last 12 to 18 months and then we advise you follow a maintenance programme.
