TREATMENT OVERVIEW

Corrective skin treatment and peels help to restore the skin’s health by promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells to replace old, damaged and unhealthy cells. Corrective skin treatment is designed to gently encourage the removal and shedding of old cells, whilst encouraging the production of new vibrant healthy cells.
The skin treatments available at Wimpole Aesthetics are chosen and tailored to meet specific, individual needs and range from very gentle, healing treatments to more intensive treatments with more dramatic results.
Skin treatments offered include those for concerns such as premature ageing, sun damage, environmental damage, acne, rosacea, hyper-sensitive skin, chemically sensitive skins and those skins prone to eczema and psoriasis, or other inflammatory skin conditions.
Many patients are simply wanting to refresh dull, tired or stressed skin. These specialist skin treatments are often used alongside the other therapies in the clinic to enhance the results achieved. During your initial consultation you will be given some advice as to your particular skin health concerns and a bespoke dermal plan will be formulated.
How does it work?
Using retinoids, anti-oxidants and carefully selected alpha-hydroxy acids, these gentle, yet extremely powerful ingredients work to stimulate rapid new cell growth, reduce inflammation, heal and repair damaged or sensitive skin and remove dead, scarred or damaged cells from the surface of the skin.
Due to the focus on restoring the skin to health, the skin looks brighter and clearer, feels smoother and lines and pigmented areas are softened. Retinoids are derived from vitamin A. They have been used with great success to treat many skin concerns from active acne to premature ageing. Retinoids stimulate skin cells to multiply, and at the same time they repair damage that has been done to the cells, so that the new skin is healthier.
They also help to normalise oil in the skin, reduce hyper pigmentation and inhibit the breakdown of collagen. Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) improve skin texture and reduce the signs of ageing by encouraging cells to shed from the surface of the skin and restoring hydration.
Antioxidants reduce and help repair damage done on a cellular level. They reduce inflammation, which damages collagen and other important skin structures, and offer protection against sun damage and premature ageing. Their anti-inflammatory effects also greatly help acne, rosacea, hypersensitivity and other inflamed skin conditions.
How long does the treatment take?
A single corrective skin treatment will take between 15 and 45 minutes.
How many treatments are necessary?
An initial course of 4 to 6 specialist skin treatments is usually recommended. However, this does vary according to the individual.
How much does a corrective skin treatment cost?
Between £150 and £450, depending on your individual skin concerns.
