TREATMENT OVERVIEW

Stubborn pockets of fat that just won’t shift are a common modern-day complaint. However slim and toned we strive to be, it is unrealistic for most of us to follow the stringent diet and exercise routine required to achieve a model physique.
Body reshaping and fat reduction treatments are fast growing in popularity but what makes VASER stand out from the rest? At Wimpole Aesthetics, we believe it is VASER’s ability to produce predictable and effective results combined with minimal downtime and discomfort.
As with any aesthetic treatment, practitioner choice is an essential component and VASER is no different. Dr Joshua Berkowitz is one of London’s leading aesthetic practitioners and he has performed hundreds of VASER procedures.
All VASER procedures at Wimpole Aesthetics are individually tailored, carefully planned and excellently executed. We place no time limit on our procedures – Dr Berkowitz will work as long and as hard as needed to produce the result you are expecting. Your VASER procedure is performed in a state-of-the-art operating theatre at our central London clinic. Dr Berkowitz is ably supported by a carefully chosen support team and every attention has been paid to patient comfort.
Furthermore, our aftercare is unrivalled. We schedule regular follow-ups to monitor our patients’ progress and we supply all our London VASER patients with the highest standard of compression garments, free of charge. For more information on the Wimpole Aesthetics VASER package, click here.
Who is best suited for VASER?
VASER is not a weight-loss procedure, but instead is best suited for men and women who are relatively toned but may have stubborn pockets of fat that they are unable to eradicate. For those that want that bit more from their body reshaping treatment, Wimpole Aesthetics now offers VASER Hi-Def which produces a more athletic, sculpted shape. Successful VASER Hi-Def candidates are those that are able to maintain their results post-procedure.
How does VASER work?
VASER utilises ultrasound energy to break down fat cells prior to them being removed with a suction device. VASER is able to do this with minimal downtime because it only targets the fat cells and causes little damage to the surrounding tissue. Also, the fat cells are liquefied and therefore easier to remove. Tiny incisions are made in the treatment area, the probe is inserted, and ultrasound energy directed into the fat cells.
Then a suction device gently removes the emulsified fat cells and create the naturally beautiful contours you expect from a VASER procedure. Results will be immediate and once the swelling and bruising has subsided, you’ll get a clear indication of your new contours. There will then be a gradual and continual improvement and at six months you will be able to see your final shape.
What is the recovery process like after VASER?
VASER is performed under local anaesthetic and you will be able to return home straight after your procedure. There is minimal downtime after a VASER procedure and you will be able to resume normal activities within 48 hours and return to work within a week. More rigorous physical activity can be resumed after a month when you are fully healed, but Dr Joshua Berkowitz can advise you further at your VASER follow-up appointment.
Our London VASER patients report that there is a small degree of discomfort after a VASER procedure and often a sensation of tightness or stiffness in the treatment area, but that it is easily managed with over-the-counter painkillers. What is VASER lipo?
VASER is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, VASER uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body. It is a powerful enough to eliminate substantial areas of fat, but gentle enough to treat dedicated areas, such as the neck and arms.
How long has VASER lipo been available?
The VASER lipo device was first introduced in 2001. Our clinic has been performing the VASER lipo procedure since 2005.
How does it differ from traditional liposuction?
The VASER lipo producer is unique in its ability to spare important tissues while targeting unwanted fat. The technology dislodges fat cells from the fatty tissues matrix while leaving all other important tissues intact, resulting in a smooth results and rapid healing
First the area to be reshaped is filled with a tumescent saline solution. Next, a small probe transmits the ultrasound energy to dislodge fat, A thin tube, called a cannula removes the dislodged fat through a gentle suction process.
What body areas can be treated with VASER lipo?
We have experienced great success in treating all of the following areas:
Jowls, chin and neck
Abdomen, hips and love handles
Male and female breasts
Back, buttocks and thighs
Arms
Knees, calves and ankles
Can you treat multiple areas at once? How much fat can be taken in one procedure?
The VASER lipo technology allows us to treat multiple body areas at one time, in one producer, Although there are limits to the amount of fat that can be removed, Dr, Berkowitz can assist you with your decision about potential areas for sculpting, anticipated results and how much fat will be removed during a consultation appointment.
Is there a recovery period or special VASER aftercare required?
Yes, VASER lipo is a minimally invasive liposuction procedure, and there is a short period of rest, typically 12 hours, immediately after the procedure, followed by two to three weeks general recovery when strenuous activities should be avoided. We will also provide a special compression garment to help the skin contract smoothly to the body’s new contours and general instructions for post procedure care.
How soon will I see results?
Noticeable results vary according to the amount of fat removed, the number of areas treated, and other factors. Many patients report that they see results immediately after the producer with final results arounds three to four months later. During your consultation, Dr Berkowitz can help you establish realistic expectations.
What about future weight gain or can fat migrate to other areas?
Once you have fat removed, it’s gone. Assuming you follow a healthy lifestyle of proper diet and exercise, it will not return or migrate. However, because fat is necessary to a healthy body, some essential fat layers in any given area remain untreated. If you experience weight gain or loss after VASER lipo procedure, it will tend to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Normal ageing changes can also be expected.
Is the VASER lipo procedure performed in your clinic?
Dr Berkowitz performs the VASER lipo at our clinic, 48 Wimpole Street, London W1G 8SF. The procedure does require a form of anaesthesia, which we will determine with you to ensure proper safety and results
Is VASER safe?
VASER lipo has an excellent safety record; however, the procedure is not without some risk. Dr Berkowitz can discuss those with you during your consultation.
How much does VASER lipo cost?
VASER lipo is customised to your needs, so the cost of the procedure will vary from person to person depending upon the number of body areas treated and the extensiveness of the procedure.
Which areas can VASER treat?
There are certain areas of the body that are prone to storing fat. These problem areas respond well to VASER:
Chin
Neck
Arms
Male Chest Area
Breasts
Back
Stomach
Waist
Love Handles or Flanks
Buttocks
Thighs and Saddlebags
Ankles
Knees
VASER vs Liposuction: what are the benefits of VASER?
VASER does much less damage to the body – liposuction can destroy nerves, blood vessels and surrounding tissue.
VASER is less traumatic than liposuction so there is significantly less bruising and swelling.
VASER causes 70 per cent less blood loss compared to normal liposuction.
VASER is performed under a local anaesthetic avoiding the potential complications associated with a general anaesthetic that is often required for a liposuction procedure
VASER has been shown in clinical studies to produce more skin tightening than any other form of liposuction or body reshaping.
VASER produces immediate results which are further enhanced over the following six months.
VASER can be performed on large or small areas and multiple areas can be targeted in one procedure.
VASER can target fat cells very close to the skin’s surface, unlike liposuction, so it produces fantastic results in more delicate areas such as the neck and underneath the chin.
